shirt

In my lesson today i learnt how to draw a shirt.

As the image shows below the shirt way separated in to panels, the object of this lesson was to draw over them and reconstructed the panel together to make one solid image. By using the pen tool i drew round the panels in a different colour, once that had be completed. By using the object tool, I arranged the panel in front or behind each other in till it formed a shirt.

trainer

In my fashion trend/illustration lesson, we did a recap on how to use illustrator. This lesson was a reminder on what tools to use becuase in my new project i will be creating a trend book which i would like to do most of it on the computer for my illustrations. In the this lesson i created a trainer, by finding a image on google and by using the pen tool going over the trainer with a outline, and then i started to colour and fill it in. I really enjoyed this lesson and it has refreshed my memory on the program illustrator, I found it very usfull.

The purple out line is the pen tool, then started fillng it in with different blues.

final post for the term

Since i have started this blog i have found it easy to record my work and keep like a diary of my work so far. This blog is ver helpful will be using it agian to keep my work up to date and to show people what i do at the Arts Insitute.

Current Design Project

At the moment i am doing my Sports V Fashion project for my final term. I choosen to do a jumpsuit and a bikin for my sports wear, i have decisded to do it for speedo. You look at speedo and thing there very on perfomace but i want to take a part of the brand and turn it towards the summer and the beach. so far i am doing a desing sketch book and my trwil and patterns done. From my 1st design i have relized what i dont like about it and during the twril making have changed parts. At the moment i am doing the pattern for my twril of my bikin, i didnt decide to do the bikin intill a couple of weeks ago i fort as my jumpsuit didnt take me long to make, i trought that a bikin would be best to go with the jumpsuit to complete the outfit. The metrails that i am using are performance fabrics the jumsuits is made from jersey and the bikin is water proof latax. The work is going fine at the moment i hope i keeps going well.

Presentation

In are pprd lesson we got a task given to us to go into groups of 4 or 5 and each group was given a fashion capital, my group got London, we had to do a presention on it. i really liked this group exericse it teaching you to work with others and on your presentation and speeking skills for a fruture carrer. Once we were in are groups we discusted what we were going to put into the work and who was doing what. I got to do icons this includes modals, like kate moss and twiggy to great British icons. I also helped anuther group member do the designer page and the backgrounds.

Lectra and my T-Shirt

To make are Jersey T-Shirts we used the program Lectra on the PCs. Lectra is the worlds leader in integrated technology solutions (it is CAD/CAM equipment). It is used in the textiles, and Fashion industry. I like this software because it was different and your patterns become more accurate. And if you need to do any adjustments to your pattern it simple to use quick and saves a lot of time. we used lectra for are t-shirts, we made the patterns from blocks and scanned them in to the software and did the measurements and adjustments to create the patterns. Once the patterns where made they where printed out using a huge printing call the plotter it prints and cuts the pattern out at the time. 

This was the first time i had ever made anything with jersey fabric, it comfortable to use. And i learnt that jersey is overlocked together, this was a good exercise to used to be on the overlocker more as it made me more comfortable using it. This project to prepare us for are fashion v sports project as those garments would be performance fabrics. i really proud of my T-shirt as it is the only garment up to this point that didn't go wrong and there was no holes.   

london on/off part 2

The last day, i didnt get to dress for Ashley Isham because there where to many dresses he brought his own team. But there was no disopointment from me because i got to go out to the front and got to wacth the show. It was fantastic and the garment where beautiful.

After the show we got to keep the profile that are picture of the modals in the garments for the show so we know he the garment is ment to look like for the show.

london fashion week on/off

For London Fashion Week, i got to do some work experiance with the company ON/OFF, which is a company that puts up coming designers on the map. I spent four long days working and dressing modals for designer it was very hard work but worth all of it, i really enjoyed myself and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
The deigners i got to meet and dress for was Pam Hogs, Ashley Isham and Falguni and Shane Peacock. Pam Hogs was the best one i Enjoyed the most her outfits where unreal so hip and punky, REALLY out of this world. Beside grate top up coming desingers there where big make up and hair companys like Loreal and Shu Uemura, we got to see the make up and hair being done for the shows. I hope to so this whole experiance again in september.

Buying and Merchendising

This trem we have been learning about Buying and Merchanding, i have enjoyed that iv learnt something new and some parts of it i found fun, i be honest i didnt really relize that how hard it would be and how much maths is involed. I have discovered how to do a shop swot analysis, pricing matrix and a range plan and many more things. Besides the maths some of it is very instresding and i have found it nessary and relavent.

Shirt

Hear are some images of ,my shirt that i made in construction the shirt was difficult to make but i enjoyed the challenge. It is pin stripped there was an option of three colours red, purple or blue i choose to use the purple fabric. During the shirt making we learnt how to make the pattern for it but also different types of collars the stan collar and the convertible collar. We used the convertible collar for are shirts. Also this was the first thing we made with button wraps and learnt to make button holes. The thing that made this pleasant was that there was a verity of different things to learn in one outfit.

flat drawings

In ict i did some flat drawings, as a fashion designer they are a important part of my course, to do them by hand is a basic drawing flat used with pencil. On the computer illustrator is used, i used the same tools to create these drawing as i did my pack of cards symbols. i really enjoyed this lesson and learning how to create a flat drawing, i got the hang of it and and we be using it in my fruture designs projects.

ict

in my ict lesson, i got tort how to do flat drawings using illustrator.

we started off frist in the lesson by doing practice drawings to get us used to the program, we got show the basics, and to create symbols that are on a deck of cards.

A line Skirt

My A line skirt, it was made it out of White Cotton Drill. I found it easy to sew more than calico because it softer and easy to iron out creases. Still this far in to construction i was still finding it difficult, it wasn't the way we had to sew it that was easy to learn it was machines to get used to them. To make the pattern for the A line skirt was enjoyable, also in that lesson we got to learn and see the patterns for different kind of skirts like the circle skirt.

Shorts

My shorts, i was happy with these because at this point i was getting hang of the machines. The short as the same as the bodist was made out of calico, they are just basic shorts with a fly zip, and waist band and hems. I did a pattern of jean shorts which are much harder as they have pockets and yokes, so for extra work to put in my folder i did the pattern.

ruffles and folds

In my Design lesson i created a grament, which had some sort of element of ruffles and folds to go with the theme which was organic, i got told that it was just experimental so it was only pinned on a mankin. i really enjoy the activite and was please with my resaults.

For my reserach i look at dale chihuly, he is an american artist, he creates organic figures with glass. His work is very intresting and enjoyable to look at. the use of colour is amazing, there bright, Intense and Astonishing. I created a theme bored, and collected images of his work to help me with my design.

basic bodist

The first thing i made in construction with Pat and Jane are lectures, was a basic bodist. As it was first official thing iv made i found it very hard. the pattern cutting i really enjoy and find that easy to work out. The construction was difficult, to learn all the different seams and to put sleeves in i struggled with that.

my first ict day

hi my name is charlotte, and today was my very 1st day on my FDA fashion ICT class, this is my very 1st post on my blog, today it was created. i created this blog to tell people about me what i do and how my progress is going over the years at AIB. I will be posting my images, work designs and the things that interest me about my course. i will be giving people updates on the fashion industry, what's new and in at the time.
